Contributors

It's very simple.

  • All contributors get their newsletter name and link in our directory, and have their posts included in a RSS feed.
  • Every week there are two curated emails with 10-15 links of contributors' recent newsletters which we particularly enjoyed. Anyone whose links were included in the roundup receives a percentage of the subscriber fees.
If we have 500 subscribers that may be around €10/post. If we have 5 000 subscribers, that may be €100/post. If we have 50 000 subscribers, that may be €1000/post. Our goal is to help you earn more money.
  • All the figures and amounts will be publicly shared on every newsletter.
  • You cannot use GenAI within your process. Everything has to be written / created by you.
  • It could be on any topic, in any field, but it has to be interesting and at readable by the public. This is not for current events.
  • You need to have a Ghost newsletter to take part, with a free subscription level, and the emails need to be accessible by the public.
  • You can, obviously, get your own paid subscribers as well. In fact, we will encourage our subscribers to subscribe directly, as well as tip contributors.
  • You don't need to tell anyone about BRRW, but it would be lovely if you did.

Don't have a newsletter?

  • We suggest using AlwaysData, (referral link, which gives you 10% off), which is an EU host with a €50/year level which is more than enough for hosting your newsletter. You can also buy an inexpensive domain through them for roughly €13.

If you would like us to set everything up for you, there is a one-time fee of €50. But it is still yours.

This entire setup costs less than the annual fee for the lowest level of a hosted Ghost newsletter, with no limits in subscribers. If we set it up for you, we will also set up free bulk email from your domain, as a thank you, to help offset the cost.
  • You need to sign up for Stripe, so you can get paid and tipped by your own subscribers.
  • In order to get fee-free payments from us, you need to have a free Wise account (referral link, which gives you a free international money transfer of up to $600).

Please note: You do not have to click on these referral links. You can set everything up yourself, or pay GhostPro between $15-18/month for the starter level.

We are suggesting these services because we researched and solved these problems for ourselves, and that's why we are sharing it with you.

What if I'm really proud of something that I've done, and it wasn't included in an email?

Message us and we will will promote it. We'll also work on finding additional ways to get your work out there.

What's the catch?

We are affiliated with the new Institute for Human Curiosity. We want to support and promote human curiosity. If you are a curious human, then we would love to try to help you.

This is just starting. We can't guarantee anything. It's all an experiment. We don't know if we'll get a single subscriber. But we will curate and share your work regardless.

We want to create a community of curious people who we can actively support. And who want to support each other.

Who is behind this?

This is being started by an independent researcher, Ezra Butler, who has a background in technology, who knows how hard it is to do things. And how as an independent anything, you end up paying a lot more for things than larger companies.

What's the end game? Why should I do all of this for the possibility of being included in an email and getting paid an unknown sum of money?

As we mentioned above, BRRW is an experiment.

What if someone is a great researcher or writer, but abhors self-promotion? What is someone else is great at curation, and doesn't spend all their time doing primary source research, creation, or experimentation?

The goal is to develop a platform which will let any curator create similar curated newsletters from community members, with the same financial structure of 50% of the revenue being divided and distributed to all the included contributors, with the platform not to taking a cut.

It could be any content, not just research. What if it is recipes, with a curator creating a dream menu every week, comprised of recipes they discovered from community contributors? Or photography? Or comics?

What if someone created a newsletter which shared a single curated short story or every morning to read with your coffee? And everyone would be certain in knowing that they will get paid for it without any problem.

If people are writing poetry, then it wouldn't be difficult for a curator to curate a monthly poetry journal, with putting poets through the submission and rejection process. Instead, the poet may wake up one morning, seeing their poetry shared with the world and some money in their account.

Such a vision takes trust, transparency, a community which wants each other to succeed, and a platform not looking to maximize profits for its shareholders.

This all starts with a community creating on their own platforms.
